Social Program
Overview
All partecipants and their accompanying persons are welcome to attend the conference's social events including two cocktails, the conference dinner and two cultural/touristic activities.
Social events covered by the registration fees (see the on-line registration)
- Cocktails:

Accompanying persons who do not register for the conference dinner are very welcome to join the two cocktails.
Optional guided tours
- An half-day tour in Padua, on the afternoon of July 6, i.e., before the conference.
- A full-day tour in Venice, on July 10, i.e., after the conference.
The tours are organized by the travel agency Padoviaggiando. The agency can also offer assistance for organizing other excursions and activities for the accompanying persons (email: info@padoviaggiando.com, Mrs Cristina attention).
Notes
- Each tour is limited to no more than 50 persons.
- Tours will take place only if a minimum number of 25 participants is reached. If not enough reservations are made before June 18, 2015, the tour will be cancelled and refunded.
- In July, weather is often hot and humid. However, we remind that in the most visited churches the personnel usually check that visitors are dressed appropriately. Both men and women need to have at least their shoulders and knees covered.

The walking tour of the historical city center covers:
- Palazzo Bo: the main building of the University. The visit includes the world’s first permanent anatomical theatre, the Aula Magna (Great Hall) and the Galileo Galilei's Podium.
- The Scrovegni Chapel, home of the precious fresco cycle by Giotto, a masterpiece of the fourteenth century.
- The Church of Saints Filippo and Giacomo, more commonly known as “gli Eremitani”.
- Palazzo della Ragione which was the location of the law court. The Palazzo separates the two Piazzas, Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta, and it is daily animated by a lively market.
The fee (10€) includes:
- Professional tour guiding.
- Entrance tickets.

Program
- Departure by bus with destination Villa Foscari, known as “Villa Malcontenta”, designed by the architect Andrea Palladio.
- Departure for Venice-Tronchetto to take the Vaporetto (ferry) to Venice-S. Stae, on the Grand Canal, near the Rialto Bridge.
- Lunch at the restaurant Poste Vecie, inside the fish market of Rialto, where the group will taste a light seafood lunch.
- Visit of some of famous places like San Marco Square, the homonymous Basilica and the Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri) and stroll through the unknown Venice.
- Departure by ferry from San Marco Square to Venice-Tronchetto and back to Padua by bus.
The fee (70€) includes:
- Professional tour guiding.
- Transportation (bus and vaporetto).
- Lunch (beverages included).
- Entrance tickets.
